★★★★★(5 reviews)I have visited ADNU SHS and College campus. The school is so wide, the students are very respectful when u encounter them, and the food in the canteen is so delicious.
To anyone considering Ateneo de Naga University just because of its name—please think twice. The "Ateneo" brand certainly posits an appearance of prestige, but what remains underneath is a complete farce in terms of educational standards and campus life. Sadly, living on reputation alone seems to be the philosophy of the university. Teaching quality, like the intermittent rain on Lourdes' nights, varies from excellent to poor-and I dare say that the educational institution does not produce real mentors in the truest of definitions. Passivity and dismissiveness rampantly find their way from professors toward students, either making it difficult for the average student to approach them or inhibiting students from getting any support they rightly deserve. The frustration worsens when professors and even the administration do not seem to care or acknowledge the students—making us all the more frustrated when we approach. The Senior High School (SHS) environment, however, is the most bothersome. Many students act rudely toward others, and it feels rather more toxic than encourage. It's hard to feel proud being part of a community when respect, excellence, and compassion are mere words on a brochure; they are never witnessed in practice. And if it would get worse, I think it would be even worse in the case of the non-teaching staff: janitors, guards, and other workers-who earn too little against the high tuition fees. Really, it is survival in a system that has a marked path for money but where the results are sorely lacking-in terms of fair wages, good teachers, or even student support. To be honest, I'm not proud of becoming an Atenean. A school ought to be more than its name. It must offer good education, treat its people with dignity, and live by the values it purports to stand for. A case-in-point example of how Ateneo de Naga is not that model school.
As a former student, I expected a higher standard from a university with Ateneo’s reputation. Unfortunately, my experience has been underwhelming. Many of the teachers seem disengaged, as if they’re simply doing the bare minimum just to collect a paycheck. This lack of passion and effort affects the quality of education—we’re taught just enough to get by, not to truly excel. What’s more frustrating is the rising tuition fees, which are not matched by an improvement in teaching quality or services. Delays in grade submissions have also been a recurring issue, making it difficult for students to enroll on time for the next term.
No parking inside the campus for visitors, you have to park along the road outside the main gate.Theres a new building for senior high school named Hilario Belardo Hall, a four story building, constructed on the previous parking lot. The university is clean, has excellent facilities, few people due to pandemic.
